Turns out, going to the gym isn’t going to help you lose weight.
That’s what new research from Loyola University in Chicago suggests. They found that doing more exercise and spending hours at the treadmill will increase a person’s appetite, making them eat more.
The study suggests instead focusing on controlling calories, whether or not you plan on being physically active. They insist the only effective way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories.
Furthermore, other studies show no link between the energy someone spends working out and direct changes to their weight. Thus, they argue that physical activity does not influence obesity.
The study was published in the “Journal of Epidemology.”
