Carlos Prieto at the Musical Instrument Museum
Carlos Prieto, Mexico-born and MIT-educated, is one of the most respected cellists in the world, regularly premiering works composed especially for him by Latin American, North American, and European composers.
He has recorded more than ninety compositions, including the complete Bach suites and works by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Saint-Saëns, Boccherini, Fauré, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Kodaly, Bruch, Martinů, and others.
In addition, Prieto has recorded thirteen CDs devoted especially, but not solely, to cello music from Latin America and Spain, which include the world premieres of many concertos and chamber works.
