It’s safe to say that getting enough sleep nowadays is almost impossible. We’re all juggling jobs, relationships, bills, family — everything at the same time!
But not getting enough Z’s can be taking a toll on your health — especially in the long run.
Yahoo Health has taken on the subject this week, and came up with an infographic that shows the long-time effects of bad sleeping habits. Turns out, getting less than six hours of sleep can make eyes bloodshot and droopy. And ladies check this out, not getting a good sleep will increase wrinkles.
They found that being tired also leads to weight gain and a weakened immune system. In the long term, this could increase the chances of heart problems, mood disorders and diabetes.
Furthermore, they also found that not sleeping enough makes you lose accuracy. In other words, multiple studies have shown that being deprived — even if it’s four hours of sleep — can make someone have the same reaction time as someone who is driving under the influence. Driving while sleep-deprived is the equivalent of driving drunk.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 30 percent of adults are sleeping for less than six hours every night, even though the recommended amount is seven hours in order to maintain a healthy mind and body.
