Flavors of the Southern Coast: Cooking with Tommy Bahama
By Sandra Munoz
The iconic, island-lifestyle brand, Tommy Bahama debuted its latest cookbook Flavors of the Southern Coast-Cooking with Tommy Bahama. This edition follows the wildly popular debut of Flavors of Aloha, which was the first in the series of culinary adventures that explore different destinations and the rich unique dishes of each locale.
To celebrate the launch of their new cookbook, Tommy Bahama held a night of fine dining at their newly renovated North Scottsdale Kierland Commons location. We were treated to appetizers and a 5 course- dinner. The well-prepared delights presented truly captured the essence and flavors of the Gulf Coast.
We were treated to Chef and best-selling author Rick Rodgers and Executive Chef Carlos Garcia culinary creations straight from the new cookbook – Seafood and Avocado Cocktail, Grilled Chicken and Mango Salad, Jerk Pork Tenderloin to name a few. No southern meal is complete without side dishes such as Creamy Mac and Cheese and Smothered Green Beans. These dishes were complemented by refreshing cocktails like Key Lime Gin Fizz and Brandy Milk Punch. All in all, a wonderful foody tour of the Southern Coast.
Tommy Bahama’s Vice President, Rod Goldberg stated that the restaurant’s goal was to create a, “Gathering with friends and family to enjoy great food, wine and cocktails has been a cornerstone of the Tommy Bahama experience”. He added, “Flavors of the Southern Coast embraces our affinity for celebrating relaxed living along the gulf.”.
Tommy Bahamas invites everyone in the Phoenix area to join them in their own home kitchen to create satisfying and easy, savory dishes from the relaxing Southern Coast.
