Cute or creepy? 3D Printing Firm Offers Lifesize Figurine of Baby from your Ultrasound Scan

‘Wouldn’t you like to meet your baby before he or she is born?’ That’s the bizarre offer from a start-up company that uses 3D printing to create models of fetuses still developing in the womb.
3D Babies takes an ultrasound scan of your baby and creates a customized figurine, with the correct facial features, body position and skin tone of the unborn child.
The models are produced using the latest 3D printing technology and a custom life-size baby costs $600. The smallest representation available is just $200.
“This is a great way to share the excitement of your new baby with family and friends. Your 3D Baby will be a treasured family remembrance of your pregnancy and new baby.’
The company claim: ‘Our ultimate goal is to bring a smile to the faces of parents, grandparents, and other family members as they recall the day that they met their little one.
‘This product will become a treasured family heirloom,’ the website predicts.
The babies come in three sizes: lifesize (eight inches long), halfsize (four inches) and mini (two inches).
As the company explains: ‘The Lifesize 3D Baby is so called, because a 23-24 week old fetus is about 8 inches from crown to rump.’
You can also specify whether you want the gender of your baby to be visible or not. And the figurines come in three skin tones – light, medium and dark
