Reading deficiencies could lead to negative long-term effects

In Arizona, 74 percent – nearly three out of every four – of fourth graders fail to read at grade level. Cronkite News reporter Kayla Frost looks into the long-term effects of reading deficiency for Arizona students.

58% Asian
62% White
80% African American
84% Latino
92% American Indians
Importance of future impact:
- 85% of higher paying jobs in Arizona require post secondary education.
- Only 34% of adults in Arizona have an Associate degree.
