Victor Navarro could spend hours looking through and admiring the treasures in his grandmother’s wardrobe.

Her sense of style and class earned Navarro’s admiration, and the interest in fashion began to spark at the short age of 8.

During high school, his pastimes revolved around photography. While his friends enjoyed going out, he invested his time on editing his work or coordinating wardrobes.

“I did a lot of photography in Hermosillo for friends, for models who were building a portfolio, and I coordinated photo sessions for my family, friends and even some models,”
he said.

Then, a casting opportunity for prominent channel Televisa presented itself. Even though Navarro met the age requirement, he did not meet the most important qualification: to be a high school graduate.

“It was the last day of the casting. I went, but I had a year left of high school so they told me to try again the following year,” he said.

Even though a door closed for Navarro to move forward on this casting, a window of opportunity opened when he received the job offer from a modeling agency sponsoring that same casting.

Since then at the age of 17, his spot in the fashion industry would bloom. He modeled for local boutiques, for photographers, and took part in activities throughout the community.

“Its a satisfying feeling because I went through many obstacles to get to where I am now. Everything in the past, it’s been a lesson,” he said.

Born in Hermosillo, Sonora, Navarro studied Business Administration and further obtained a Master’s Degree in Fashion Marketing.

Navarro’s stylist profession officially took of at 26, when he had built a background for himself styling professionals.

“My biggest pride are always my clients and the feedback I receive from them … that’s my greatest satisfaction. It’s not a photo in a magazine but I love it when a client contacts me and tells me they’re very happy,” he said.

Navarro aims for greater things in his career by aiming to grow internationally in his profession.

Currently, he works as a fashion columnist for European editorial Pufnica and Testosterona in Hermosillo, Sonora.

On May 17, Victor Navarro will bring his fashion expertise to Latino Fashion Live 2014.

“I feel super satisfied with the opportunity because all of the (Latino Fashion Live) team believed in me as a fashion stylist and my trajectory in different parts of the world in this industry,” he said.

All eyes are on Hermosillo, Sonora during this year’s largest Latino fashion event. Navarro promoted designers Arturo Valdez, Isa Icela Valdez, and Michelle Morcas to the Latino Fashion Live 2014 team, and they will be the fresh new talents to look out for in the runway.

“I want to export the talent that Sonora has because I know that in the world of fashion in the future, we’ll hear nothing but great things from these three designers,” he said.

In January 2014, he was part of the judging panel at the Nuestra Belleza Latina competition’s auditions in Arizona for Univision. photo (3)

“(My career) has allowed me to eliminate my timidness. It infuses confidence in you as a person,” he said.
