Nuvia Enriquez Celebrates 10 Years of Showcasing Local Latino Talent Through Stylos Awards
By: Cindy G. Castillo
Stylos Awards was born out of the need of a local platform where Latinos could showcase their talent.
What started out as a fashion show in the year 2005 has now evolved into an entire community, where designers, models, stylists, artists and leaders come together to show off their individual potential.
“We’ve been so fortunate that people believe in the event and its mission, and come together out of the kindness of their hearts,” Nuvia Enriquez from the Isac Amaya Foundation said
“Stylos has become an emblematic event in our city, and we’re very thankful for those that have supported us over the years.”
Now, Stylos Awards has evolved into not only a show of live performances and a fashion show, but also an awards ceremony recognizing entrepreneurs, activists and leaders in Arizona.
In celebration of Stylos’ 10th year anniversary, they’ve made this year’s theme “reunion,” where they’ll be bringing some of their part participants and performers. They’ll be looking back at how far they’ve come since their participation and the things they’re doing now.
“I think the thing that we’re most proud of is having been able — throughout these ten years — to create something that people have grown fond of and that they want to participate because the know they make it what it is.”
What makes Stylos unique is the fact that it’s become the longest-standing community-led awards ceremony in the Valley.
Stylos 2015 will be held at The Pressroom in Downtown Phoenix. A walk through the red carpet begins at 7 p.m. The awards ceremony will start at 8 p.m. and it will include its signature fashion show featuring local fashion designers, followed by the long line-up of bands and DJs at 10:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.StylosAwards.com.
Proceeds from the event go towards the creation of scholarships for Latino students seeking to achieve a higher education.
