After “Fuiste Tu” With Ricardo Arjona, What’s Next For Guatemalan Singer Gaby Moreno
Gaby Moreno’s career bloomed after the song “Fuiste Tu” next to Ricardo Arjona became a smashing hit in Latin America.
But her career goes far back to a total of seven albums now. Her latest work was “Postales” in 2012.
By 2013, she won the Latin Grammy for “Best New Artist.”
Now, the 33-year-old Guatemalan singer and songwriter is working on a new project that’s become her sole focus — a new album she hopes to release by the end of the year.
“What gives me the most hope and excitement is to be able to take my music to a lot of people,” she said.
The singer is out promoting a brand-new collaboration with the horror film, “Insidious: Chapter 3,” out in theaters everywhere this Friday. She is using her voice to bring a new rendition of the classic Latin American lullaby “Arroro mi Niño” to life for the Spanish trailer of the thriller.
“Once you hear the song with the trailer, yeah, it’s really scary,” she laughs, “you don’t imagine seeing something so horrifying with a song so innocent like this one.”
This isn’t the first time she’s sang for film. In 2009, she sang a song composed by Charlie Chaplin for the project, “The Cove,” which went on to receive an Oscar for Best Documentary.
In the future, she sees herself reaching new heights with her music.
“I just want to live having much more creativity and energy to keep creating songs, performing,” she said, “in a couple years, I hope my career keeps growing.”
“Insidious: Chapter 3” will be out in theaters everywhere this Friday.
