AZL Two AmericansThe FREE online premier of the full-length documentary Two Americans will happen on Friday, Feb. 12 at www.twoamericans.com  Filmmakers Daniel DeVivo and Valeria Fernandez follow the story of the struggle of an immigrant family to stay together. They started filming in 2009 when Sheriff Joe Arpaio arrested the Mexican parents of 9-year-old Kathy Figueroa. They were working in a carwash in central Phoenix. In just a few days, an immigration judge will hear their case and decide whether they get to stay in the U.S. or be deported. Two Americans documents the impact of state immigration policies on children. Two Americans will be online on July 12th until July 17th – the date of an immigration hearing in which a federal judge will decide whether or not Kathy Figueroa’s parents get to stay in the U.S.

Granted full access by the Arizona sheriff, the filmmakers examine justice from his perspective as well as from that of little Kathy. The film documents the sheriff’s tactics as well as Katherine’s pleas to President Barack Obama, following her to Washington, D.C. where she testified before an ad-hoc committee hearing and pleaded for the president’s help in Arizona.
