Bookmark_AThree Phoenix-area artistas: Gennaro Garcia, Joe Ray, and Frank Ybarra will be exhibiting at {9} The Gallery as part of Art Detour’s Silver Anniversary Event.

An opening reception for the artists will be held on Friday, March 1, 6-10 p.m. at {9} The Gallery, 1229 Grand Avenue, Phoenix.

This exhibit will be featured as part of the 25th Annual Art Detour, which kicks off Friday, March 1 with First Friday art walks. This exhibition and event continues with self-guided tours all day on both Saturday and Sunday, March 2 and 3. The gallery will be open both days, and the exhibit will be up through March 30.

Each of the 3 artists (Garcia, Ray, & Ybarra), have been active in the local and regional arts scene for a number of years. Their work is colorful, bold, and whimsical, and reflects a bicultural perspective of suburban ethnicity, machismo, mythology, and contemporary faiths based on ancient ones. Much of it deals with the eternal interaction of the U.S. and Mexican border…the fun part.

{9} The Gallery is one of the premier Grand Avenue art spaces. It features community gatherings, as well as an inviting coffee and tea bar within its walls. {9} The Gallery is the brainchild of Laura Dragon, owner and curator.

Art Detour 25, organized by Artlink Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will take a historical look at the artists who contributed to its success over the years, as well as the galleries, organizations and businesses who embrace and promote downtown Phoenix artists and their work today.
