(Gilbert, Ariz.) – Afro:Baile in presentation with The Center; presents the 6th annual “Brazilian Day Arizona Festival” – a celebration of Brazil’s Independence Day. Join us this September as more than 50 musicians, dancers, performers & instructors from across Brazil and the USA, gather at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts to engage audiences with a program inspired by Brazil’s diverse, historic, and colorful culture. The festival will unfold on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 from Noon – 5:00pm with festivities & entertainment running throughout the day.
The annual celebration will feature both indoor & outdoor fun including a live Brazilian concert, dance performances, Capoeira, Jiu Jitsu, music instruments, a Samba Queen Contest, Workshops, kid’s activities, and over 30 vendors. The family-friendly event will also feature educational aspects that are interactive with performances and demonstrations designed for people of all ages.
This year’s musical programming will span several different styles of Brazilian music including Pagode, Samba, Forro, Funk, and Samba-Reggae that will surely create a dynamic multi-sensory experience. Performers at this year’s event including – Grupo Cupim do Samba, Delta Nove, DJ Seduce, Axe Capoeira, Gustavo Dantas, Neise Cordeiro and much more.
Attendees will not only experience live Brazilian music and dance, but will also have an opportunity to taste the authentic flavors of Brazilian cuisine at the festival. Local food producers will sample and sell fantastic Brazilian, Lebanese, Argentinian and other great cultural foods. A bar serving Brazil’s national cocktail, the “Caipirinha”, will also be available along with other great beverages throughout the day.
As one of the most recognized Brazilian festivals in the country, the award-winning event is the perfect place to see, hear, touch and taste your way through Brazil. The all-ages festival welcomes everyone, young and old, from all walks of life, to join together and celebrate culture, love, freedom, and Independence Day the Brazilian way.
Festival hours are from Noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, located 7380 E. 2nd Street, Scottsdale AZ.
