The Red Bull Air Race pilots will take on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway racetrack at the second-last stop of the season in Las Vegas, USA on 11 and 12 October.

The Las Vegas Red Bull Air Race stops marks the seventh and penultimate race of the season, and as the World Championship hots up in the Nevada desert, the stakes have never been higher.

According to Race Director Steve Jones, the challenges facing the pilots don’t just lie in the racetrack – in Las Vegas, density altitude will be the pilots’ greatest adversary. At nearly 2000ft above sea level and with temperatures reaching around 82.4 °F (28°C), the air will be less dense than in lower, cooler tracks. This will rob the race engines of power and make the wings less able to turn.

The U.S. will host two of eight world races, the second U.S. stop to be held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway October 11-12, 2014 (Saturday: Qualifying and the Challenger Cup, Sunday: Finals). Each ticket is good for a full two days of high-adrenaline racing.
