In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, MIM welcomes La Catrina Quartet.
“La Catrina Quartet possesses all the elements to become one of the world’s best. In addition, they have that all too rare but essential gift of superb musical intelligence. They are already top-rung.”—George Bell, San Miguel de Allende Chamber Music Festival
Hailed by Yo-Yo Ma as wonderful ambassadors for music, La Catrina String Quartet offers a unique blend of Latin American and standard repertoire that has proven enormously entertaining to its diverse audiences, catering to the more traditional concertgoers while still attracting the next generation of listeners. The members’ infectious personalities infuse their playing, creating truly compelling performances.
La Catrina Quartet has a triple mission: to perform the masterworks of the string-quartet repertoire, to promote Mexican and Latin American art music worldwide, and to work closely with composers in order to promote the performance of new music.
