Immigration Paradox documentary screens free May 11
Phoenix filmmaker Lourdes Lee Vasquez will screen her documentary, The Immigration Paradox – Final Theatrical Cut, Saturday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. at First Studio, 631 N. First Ave. in downtown Phoenix. Admission is free. This version is edited to be shorter and more impactful then the original version she released in 2012. The production team has added some never seen before interviews and new film footage. Lourdes explains her film is the story is about today’s immigration debate, but also about her personal journey to find the truth underlying immigration issues, and how that truth can bring us together to talk about solutions.
Her documentary reveals the anger of people on both sides of the divisive immigration issue in Arizona – often called “ground zero” for the immigration debate. Over seven years, Lee Vasquez interviewed people with different viewpoints, including government officials, academics, border militia, pro-immigration activists, and undocumented immigrants.
