Roselyn sanchez and daniaRoselyn Sanchez and Dania Ramirez may not look like any maid you have ever  seen, but on June 23rd at 10 p.m., you will see them transform alongside their  co-stars Judy Reyes, Ana Ortiz, and Edy Ganem on Lifetime’s Devious  Maids. The dramedy follows the lives of five Latina  housekeepers and their various life struggles in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Latina Magazine caught up with Sanchez and Ramirez during the Miami premiere of the show to discuss the controversy, their  characters, and of course, the scoop on the potential hook-ups that will make  your mami’s novelas blush.

Latina Magazine: There is so much controversy in the press following the show before  any episodes have aired. What do you think of it all?

Dania: “The show is about five women who are friends. Being a  maid is just our occupation. They all came to the United States with the hope of  achieving the American dream. Each of our dreams are different. For my character  Rosie, she wants to bring her son to be with her. This is a very Latin story  that many immigrants can relate to. So many women have brought their children  here and worked dignified jobs to give them the best chance to succeed. All our  stories are different but we are all driven by the same things: family, love,  and passion.

This is the first time in my career that I’ve been able to play a three  dimensional woman. Rosie is someone who is going to make you laugh, she is going  to make you cry, make you angry, make you want to fall in love, and that is  really rare. I’m usually playing a girlfriend or even a bad-ass character,  and the Latino community can say great, well that wasn’t stereotypical. But as  an artist, am I fulfilled? Am I really getting the opportunities that I need to  showcase my talent? Devious Maids is giving five Latina actresses  that chance.”

Roselyn: “We all  have a path in this industry and we  have been blessed and lucky to play beautiful roles throughout our career that  we have played with pride. I would never accept a job that I think would be  demeaning to my culture and I know none of the other actresses on the show would  do that either. It’s actually the contrary, we are so friggin’ Latina it’s not  even funny!”
