Miguel Redeems Past Award Show Performances at BET Awards
Facing lawsuit controversy after his last award show performance, R & B artist Miguel redeemed his poised, cool guy reputation by performing on-stage during the 2013 BET Awards held at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday in Los Angeles.
The 27-year-old singer was joined on stage by Kendrick Lamar to perform a remix of his song “How Many Drinks. Rocking an open vest with no under shirt women in the audience seemed to forget the previous incident in which Miguel kicked a fan in the back of the head during his performance at the Billboard Music Awards earlier this year.
Later in the night, Miguel donned a white tee while joining J. Cole to perform “Power Trip.” Earlier in the night, Miguel accepted the award for Best Male R&B Artist, beating out Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown. “I got to really give it up to all the other guys in this category,” Miguel said. Don Cheadle presented Miguel with the award, and dedicated the night to the ailing Nelson Mandela.
“We want to take a moment and send our prayers and thoughts to a man who literally changed the world,” he said. “This evening we would like to offer prayers and support and hope to the extraordinary Nelson Mandela and his family.”
