Joan Fernandez Brings Life to “Clown Alley” at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey ‘s Show “LEGENDS”

Who would’ve thought that the son of a master chef and an administrative worker would now be the famous “crazy clown” joining the residents of Clown Alley at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Born in Cuba, Joan Fernandez is about to  embark on his first U.S. tour during the  one-of-a-kind experience that will be Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s show LEGENDS “ at the US Airways Center kicking off June 25.

“What I enjoy the most of what I do is entertaining the public, making people laugh, because it’s definitely and unforgettable experience,” he said.

Fernandez is 27 years old, and already has 8 years of experience behind him.

Since he stepped foot on a stage at the age of 18, he has been accompanied by his acting partner, his stuffed dog Mususi.

They have been inseparable throughout his journey through his fast-paced comedy career inspired by film legends Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy.

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® was always present in the mind of Fernandez, however, and now that he has the opportunity to be part of this spectacle, he enjoys the relationship he’s been able to build with his teammates.

“We have one of the best relationships between artists,” he said.

Besides his abilities of facial expression, Fernandez enjoys including acrobatics and impersonation in his performances. He is also thrilled to be able to work with Troupe Alegria once again after touring three years with them in Cuba.

“It’s a great show that you don’t want to miss with a lot of surprises.”
