“A fit, healthy body — that is the best fashion statement”

Fashion has taken a turn for the best when it comes to fitness style. The fitness industry has made a statement when it comes to stylish gym gear, reeling in record numbers in sales. It seems like both men and women are becoming more aware of the importance of staying healthy — and looking good while doing it.

But you don’t have to be a gym junkie to be up-to-date with the trendiest fitness fashion. Active wear has become one of the fastest growing apparel markets. You can now look great working out and not have to compromise your style. So if you’re into working out and want to look good doing it, here are some active wear brands I recommend:

ALALA: This active brand is based out of New York City. ALALA is known for its pieces that can be worn both at the gym or our running errands. Most importantly, however, ALALA is quality-made gear that won’t compromise  your style or your versatility. ALALA’s prices start at $110.

K-DEER: This brand is mostly known for its stripped leggings. If you want to be noticed, then this is the brand for you. It’s also American-made, produced in New York and New Jersey, using only American-made fabrics. Tops and bottoms range from $36 – $98.

VARLEY: This is definitely a street-inspired active wear look. Varley is known for its sheer paneling, zipper details and bold, leopard and marble prints. This is a look for the fashion-forward fashionistas.

ADAY: I believe that this brand is not only stylish, but functional. It has very cool details such as cell phone pockets and even sweat-fighting technology. This brand has been named, “the ultimate workout-to-street collection” by Porcaro.

GOLDSHEEP: This has to be my favorite one. It’s bold both in its prints and its colors. The prints on their leggings vary anywhere from pineapples to roses, and even Frida Kahlo’s face. The price on these go for $98.

HEROINE SPORT: If you are looking for something that is super comfortable and flattering, look into Heroine Sport. It is classic, slim, but still sporty. Prices start at $95.

KORAL: These performance jumpsuits go far out-of-the-box from traditional yoga leggings. Koral is based out of L.A. and known for its cut outs, sheer panels and metallics. These are priced anywhere from $75 to $175.

It’s safe to say that active wear has come a long way. Latinas everywhere are thanking Joseph Shivers for his genius invention of spandex. An invention we’ve been able to enjoy through fitted active wear that hugs us all in the right places and accentuates all of our curvas. Specially in this era, where it is ok to rock your curves like no other — regardless of where we are.
