The Top 5 Latino Designers at Mercedes-Benz NY Fashion Week
The biggest week for fashion in the United States is officially underway and thriving with a mix of Latino designers. New York Fashion Week featuring Latin designers such as Carolina Herrera and influential Ricardo Saco is sure to be an exciting look in to the summer and spring fashions of 2014. These notable Latinos will be showing off their fabulous clothing, accessories and shoes that will rock the runways of NYFW. Check out the list of the Latin designers below presenting at the show.
Carolina Herrera
For decades, Venezuelan Herrera has been making women feel beautiful with her amazing designs. Often referred to as “Fashions First Lady”, Herrera was named the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2004 and honored with the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
Custo Barcelona
Known for their printed tops and graphic designs, the Dalmau brothers (Custo and David) have made their way in fashion for a number of years and will be taking the stage this fall to debut their newest line.
Czar by Cesar Galindo
Cesar began his career in fashion designing corsets and period costumes for The Miami City Ballet, and then for The Houston Grand Opera in his hometown. Known for exquisite gowns and dresses with impeccable detailing (owing to work as a tailor) and was brought into the fashion spotlight when his kimono dress landed on the cover of Elle in 1993.
Ricardo Seco
A self-taught designer, Ricardo Seco was born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico and is considered to be one of Mexico’s most influential designers. Ricardo’s creations are designed with both men and women in mind and are easily recognized for their patterns and fit.
Candela
Gabriela Perezutti is a Uruguyan designer who focuses on equestrian detailing and traditional gaucho elements. Since its initial launch as a t-shirt line, Candela has evolved into a unique brand encompassing a full line of clothing.
