The Phoenix Suns improved to 3-2 in the season after beating the Sacramento Kings 118-97 at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Downtown Phoenix.

The Suns took advantage of a Kings’ team playing without 6’11” Center DeMarcus Cousins, who was out with an injury.

Cousins has been a nightmare for the Suns the past few years as he has averaged more than 20 points and 10 rebounds against Phoenix.

Without their starting center, Sacramento’s offense could not get in a groove.

Wednesday night the Suns were on fire from beyond the three-point arch as they shot 60.9 percent as a team.

Four of the Suns’ five starters scored in double figures; Eric Bledsoe led the team with 19 points, he added 6 rebounds.

Center Alex Len added 19 points from the bench.

Suns’ point guard Brandon Knight was the second leading scorer, he finished the game with 17 points and 7 assists.

Suns’ head coach Jeff Hornacek was very pleased with his team’s performance, “We had different guys in different stages, but it was great at the beginning of the game, Brandon was great in the stretch in the third quarter, and Alex had a really good stretch, we had contributions from a lot of guys,” said the head coach after the game.

With the loss the Kings record stands now at 1-3.

The Kings’ leading scorer was Kosta Koufos who finished the game with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Even though the Kings ended up on the short end of the stick they were still able to shoot 48 percent from the field and 46 percent from beyond the three-point arch.

Phoenix was coming from a devastated 102-96 loss against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday.

Phoenix will host the Detroit Pistons Friday night at home.
