Suns Fall Short on Loss to Spurs

Looking to snap out of a 10-game losing streak, the Phoenix Suns faced the San Antonio Spurs Sunday night at Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix.
The young Suns were not intimidated by a Spurs squad that went into the game with one of the best records in the NBA, but the Suns fell short 118-111.
“I thought we did a pretty good job in giving ourselves a chance to win,” said Suns forward John Leuer after the game. “We were right there at the end, but at the end of the day isn’t good enough to get it, we will continue to grow and get better,” he added.
Leuer finished the game with 13 points for the Suns. Archie Goodwin and Mirza Teletovic each scored 14 points against the Spurs.
With the win the Spurs improve to 47-9, while the Suns have now lost 11 games in a row with a record of 14-42.
For the Spurs Patty Mills was on fire, he made six 3-pointers and finished the game with 21 points. Lamarcus Aldrige finished the night with a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The score was close throughout the whole game, with 5:31 to go in the fourth quarter the game was tied at 100.
After a Lamarcus Aldridge missed a shot, Danny Green grabbed the rebound and scored to put the Spurs ahead, 102-100 and San Antonio never looked back.
“We have a lot of young guys, but it’s no excuse, we have to play hard, as hard as we can every night. We have to build on it, it’s a great team, we came close,” said Sun’s player Alex Len after the game.
The Suns will travel to Los Angles to face the Clippers on Monday and will return to Phoenix to host Brooklyn Thursday night.
