Cardinals Looking for 5th Home Victory in Last Home Game
By Francisco Romero. – The Arizona Cardinals will face the New Orleans Saints in their last home game of the season. Without any hope of making the playoffs the Cardinals are looking to win their last and fifth home victory.
Cardinals’ head coach Bruce Arians is looking forward to watching a lot of young players on the field, “Good opportunity for a lot of young guys, because they are going to get a lot of playing time out of necessity, I think it’s a great opportunity for them. Look forward to a very solid game from everybody,” said the head coach during a press conference earlier this week.
The Cardinals are coming off one victory over their last four games; the lone victory came against the Washington Redskins at University of Phoenix Stadium on December 4th.
“I still feel we have a lot to play for,” said running back David Johnson. “I want to come out and help out the team, and just get a little bit of momentum going heading into next year,” he added.
Icon receiver Larry Fitzgerald can reach certain milestones this Sunday; Fitzgerald will appear in his 200th career game, only Jim Bakken (234) will have appeared in more career games with the Cardinals.
Fitzgerald needs seven receptions to establish a new NFL record for receptions in a player’s first 200 career games. Hall of Fame WR Jerry Rice (1,115) holds the current record.
“When things are not going the way you kind of expected them, it feels not only worse on the body, but the season is like longer. Last year I felt like if we were in fast forward, I guess that is how it goes when you are having fun and enjoying it and things are kind of clicking,” said Fitzgerald as their playoffs are winding down.
Kickoff for Sunday’s game will be at 2:05 MST.
