Cardinals have No-Mercy over Jets
By Francisco Romero. – Arizona’s running back David Johnson was all over the place against the New York Jets, he ran for 111 yards and scored 3 touchdowns while averaging 5 yards per carry on his way to helping the Cardinals stomp the Jets 28-3.
Cardinals’ head coach Bruce Arians was very pleased with his team’s effort, he stated that all three aspects of the game worked well, “Overall it was a solid game, we protected the football, which we had to do.”
The Cardinals scored one touchdown per quarter, which was enough to beat the Jets, who were held to only a field goal on 230 total yards.
“It was really nice to have some sustained drives, we ran the football and didn’t turn
the football over, defense caused turnovers, special teams were solid all night, that is the kind of effort you want to have every single week. It’s great to be at home and win,” Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald told the assembled media after the game.
“A good team win, a team ball game, it was quality. We did a good job stopping the run, we did a good job getting the hands on balls, we got two interceptions, that was huge. Our offense, David Johnson was lights out; he ran the ball very well. Carson (Palmer) looked good making good throws, our receivers came in big catching good balls, it was a Quality win,” said defensive tackle Calais Campbell after the game.
Johnson’s first of three touchdowns came on a 58-yard run with 9:51 to go in the first quarter.
The Cardinals improve to 3-3 in the season, while the Jets record stands now at 1-5.
Bruce Arian’s team has a huge task next week as they will face the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday on Sunday Night Football, the game will be at University of Phoenix Stadium.
