30 Valley Youth Pledge to Live a Healthy Lifestyle as Part of Phoenix Suns Charities Event on February 12
Phoenix Suns Charities is teaming up with 2013-14 Playmaker Award grant recipient, Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley, to host “All-Hands-In to Practice Healthy Habits” for more than 50 youth at the Ladmo Branch in Tempe. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 12 from 4 – 5 p.m.
During the event, kids and teens will make a pledge to live healthy lifestyles by placing their handprint on a large canvas featuring the event title, “All-Hands-In to Practice Healthy Habits.”
Representatives from Phoenix Suns Charities, Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley and the City of Tempe will speak to attendees about the importance of living healthy and staying active. Following the event, the canvas will be hung in the club’s gymnasium as a reminder of the pledge. The Suns Gorilla and members of the Solar Squad will also be in attendance to entertain the kids.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the East Valley are recipients of the 2013-14 Playmaker Award, a $100,000 grant given to a local non-profit that provides support to children in the community. The grant was used to resurface the basketball courts in each of the eight Boys and Girls Club locations in the East Valley. Each resurfaced court features the new Suns logo.
