Ted Cruz is joining in Donald Trump in the latter’s plan to end birthright citizenship if elected president.

During a recent interview with the Michael Medved Show on Wednesday, the Republican candidate said he “absolutely” favors ending automatic citizenship to those born in the country, as guaranteed in the 14th amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“That has been my position from my very first days of my running for the Senate,” he said, “I welcome Donald Trump articulating this view. It’s a view I have long held.”

Other candidates aren’t so fond of the idea. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Ohio Governor John Kasich, former technology executive Carly Fiorina and former Texas Governor Rick Perry have all spoken against the policy.

The idea of changing the constitution and ending birthright citizenship was first brought up in Donald Trump’s immigration plan, which was released last week.
