(Phoenix, Ariz.) – The Arizona Dream Act Coalition (ADAC) members will be flying out today and joining women from other human rights organizations that will be placing a spotlight on common sense immigration reform. Immigrant rights activists throughout the US will be in solidarity at the “We Belong Together” campaign, consisting of a 100 mile pilgrimage, which is projected to last a total of 8 days. The campaign includes women who support family unification, human dignity, and common sense immigration policies.
The ADAC has fought long and hard by protesting in the streets and in the courts to make sure that immigrants are simply treated fairly. The recent and even those long time hateful speeches by presidential hopefuls have caused a concern for all immigrants throughout the world. Even Donald Trump’s hateful rhetoric has stirred up individuals to react by performing hate crimes to innocent individuals.
ADAC Member and undocumented parent, Rosa Maria Soto says, “In actuality 101 women will walk the 100 mile pilgrimage because we invited one more woman, our holy mother, the Virgin Mary, which will accompany us at all times.”
“We do not want more deportations, we do not want more anti-immigrant laws, we want our families to stay together and live a dignified life without fear. These are the messages that we want to deliver to congress during the Pope Francis visit”, stated Rosa Maria Soto.
