Wildcats Face Tough Task as Oregon Visits the Old Pueblo
Tucson – Looking to end a two game losing streak, the Arizona Wildcats Football Team (9-1, 6-1) will face the number 5 (BCS Ranking) team in the country, the University of Oregon Ducks (6-4, 3-4). The Wildcats are coming off consecutive losses at home to UCLA and Washington State University.
Arizona’s Head Coach Rich Rodriguez realizes the task ahead against the Ducks, “We’ve got a tremendous challenge this week against one of the best teams in the country, and it’s the last home game for our 18 seniors. We expect a good week of practice, and our guys know what they have to do to compete and have a shot against Oregon.”
Arizona will not only face a great quarterback in Marcus Mariota, but one of the best in the country. The dual-threat sophomore is a Heisman Trophy contender and has thrown a Pac-12 record 343 passes without being intercepted. He has thrown at least one touchdown in each of his 23 games as a college quarterback.
Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey will face a tough defense. Oregon’s run defense is one of the nation’s best, allowing 143 yards per game, and are the only team to hold Arizona under 100 yards the past two seasons. Carey is currently second in the nation with 150.3 yards per game and has rushed for at least 100 yards in 13 straight games.
The game is set to start at 1:30 p.m. at Arizona Stadium. It will be the last home game for the Wildcats. You can hear the game in Spanish in Tucson on 990 AM ESPN Deportes with Francisco Romero and Marco Rincon.
