The Eagle has landed. The United States Soccer Team has arrived in Brazil and ready for World Cup Play. USA will face Ghana in it first, Brazil 2014 World Cup game on Monday June 16 at Estádio das Dunas, Natal.

Team USA arrived in Sao Paulo late Monday morning and was transported to their hotel by bus. USA Team’s slogan “United by team, driven by passion” and the country’s flag rode along with them.

In its seventh straight world cup, the road to a championship match for USA will have a tough beginning. The Stars and Stripes team belongs to the so-called “Group of Death” along with Ghana, Germany and Portugal.

Ghana has eliminated the United States in the last two World Cups, Germany is powerhouse when it comes to soccer and Portugal has Cristiano Ronaldo, considered by many the World’s best soccer player.

USA’s best players Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey are confident they can advance past the first round.

USA is lead by German born Head Coach Jurgen Klinsmann who played and managed Germany.

How was the phrase “Group of Death” born?

During the 1970 World Cup, Group 3 was made up of England, Brazil, Czechoslovakia and Romania. England and Brazil had won the previous two World Cups and Czechoslovakia had finished second. The Mexican media started calling this group “Grupo de la Muerte.”
