First it was Spain, England and Italy, then Portugal, Mexico and USA; one by one twenty-four teams have gone home, twenty-four teams have left the soccer field in tears, only to wait four more years.
Eight teams are left in World Cup play, eight teams giving hope to millions of fans in different countries around the world.
Let’s not forget Costa Rica, as it has become the Cinderella team of the tournament.
Andres Iniesta (Spain) and Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) are out; Lionel Messi (Argentina) and Neymar (Brazil) are in, along with Colombia’s new sensation James Rodriguez.
The World Cup will resume play on Friday July 04.
The odds (11-4) still have Brazil as the favorite to win it all with Costa Rica as the least likely to finish as World Cup Champions with odds of (40-1).
The match between Brazil and Colombia, next Thursday, is one of the most anticipated of the World Cup. Brazil has not played up to its potential and Colombia has made history by advancing this far. Neymar is the face of Brazil, but Colombia’s James Rodriguez has emerged as the possible Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride, let the World Cup continue.
