Suns - SpursBy Francisco Romero

The Phoenix Suns may be playing their best basketball of the season.  Friday night the Suns beat the San Antonio Spurs 106 – 85 at the US Airways Center in Phoenix.

The Suns won its third game in a row since the All-Star Break and at the same time snapped a five game losing streak to the Spurs.

San Antonio was playing its ninth consecutive game on the road.  Their road record stands now at 22-8, still best in the NBA.

For the Suns Markieff Morris finished the game with 21 points and former Arizona Wildcat Channing Frye added 17 for Phoenix, Ish Smith finished with a career-high 15 points.

Spur’s Danny Green had 15 points while Tim Duncan added 13.  Tony Parker did not play due to injuries.

The Suns (33-21) are now 12 games above .500 for the first time this season. San Antonio’s record stand now at (40-16).

“A lot of the games, they slowed us down where we weren’t able to play our fast-paced game. Tonight I think we kept the tempo. We pushed against the defense and we got a great win.” Markieff Morris was quoted on the Suns official web site.

Phoenix will remain at home for the next two games as they prepare to host the Houston Rockets on Sunday and Minnesota next Tuesday.

It will be a great matchup against the Rockets, Adrian Chavarria, Houston’s Spanish broadcaster had the following to say about the game on Sunday,  “Look for the Rockets to try and shoot from beyond the three point arch, as they respect the Sun’s inside defense.”

The Rockets come in to Phoenix struggling from the free throw line as they go into the game as the second worst team from the charity stripe.

The Suns will try and win the season’s series, as of right now it is tied at one a piece.
