Suns Look to Continue Winning Ways in 2nd Game of Season; Will Take on Spurs

By Francisco Romero.- The Phoenix Suns opened the season Wednesday at home defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 119-99.
The Suns never trailed during the game.
Yes, it was only the first game of the season, but as the Suns experienced last year, all games crucial. Phoenix finished the 2013-14
seasons with 48 victories and still fell short of a playoff spot.
The suns will host the San Antonio Spurs at US Airways Center for a Halloween Showdown.
Wednesday the Suns were hitting everything from everywhere.
Goran Dragic finished the game with 18 points, scoring 12 in the third quarter.
Isaiah Thomas finished the game with 23 points for the Suns and Marcus Morris added 21 points, making 5 three pointers.
Kobe Bryant scored 31 points for the Lakers.
Phoenix head coach, Jeff Hornacek was pleased with his team’s effort.
“There are things we need to get better at, I think for the most part, for the first game, specially our starters they really came out there and got after it and that’s all we need, and our bench in spurts were Ok,” said Hornacek after Thursday’s practice.
The Spurs arrive at the Valley of the sun after beating the Dallas Mavericks Tuesday 101-100 at home.
The veteran duo of Tim Duncan and Tony Parker led the Spurs. Duncan finished the game with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Parker was the team’s leading scorer with 23.
San Antonio won three of four meetings in 2013-14, including the finale, a 112-104 win at AT&T Center.
The Suns won their last home meeting against the Spurs, Phoenix won by 21 points, a 106-85 victory on Feb. 21 (largest margin of victory by Suns in series since 1998-99).
