With 15 games remaining in the regular season schedule, the Phoenix Suns are still in the NBA playoff picture. The Suns needed a win Wednesday against Orlando and that is exactly what they got. Phoenix beat the Magic 109-93 at US Airways Center.
With the victory the Suns improved their record to 39-29. The win was crucial as Phoenix is looking for one of eight playoff spots in the Western Conference while trailing Dallas and Memphis.
With the loss Orlando’s record stands now at 19-50. The Magic has now lost 21 of their last 22 road games.
The final score does not tell the whole story, as it was close for three quarters. The Suns were able to pull away with a 23-3 run, finishing the third quarter with an 8-1 run.
For the Suns Goran Dragic finished the game with 18 points, while former Arizona Wildcat Channing Fry scored 12 and Miles Plumiee finished with 10 points.
Gerald Green was Orlando’s leading scorer with 14 points.
“We have to continue to be aggressive, we have to have fun playing defense,” mentioned Channing Fry after the game and added “We just have to keep playing Suns basketball, we just got to go out their and win.”
The Phoenix Suns will face Detroit on Friday at US Airways Center and on Sunday they will travel to Minneapolis to play the Timberwolves.
The remaining games for the Suns are must win games to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
On Friday the Suns will try and take advantage of a Detroit team that has been struggling all season long. Detroit’s record stands at 25 – 42.
After the road trip Phoenix will be back at US Airways Center Friday March 28th to take on New York.
