Stylos Awards is in its 9th year, and it is becoming a community favorite year after year.

A fashion show, live music and dance will take stage during the event gathering local talent from all parts of the Valley.

Most importantly, Stylos Awards aims to support education with profits from tickets benefiting the Isac Amaya Foundation.

Nuvia Enriquez , an organizer for the event, devotes most of her time to making sure that all aspects of the show are in order year after year.

“The planning for the event begins from the beginning of the year,” she explained. “From the nomination process to the designs from local artists, model auditions etc.”

The project took its first steps in Phoenix as a fashion show. Then in 2006, the people who organized the event came together to form “El Break,” a radio show with the same idea behind: to have a space especially for local talent.

It was in 2007 that the event came back bigger and better. Next year, they will be celebrating their 10th anniversary.

“It’s been a lot of work of just building up and having people believe in us,” she said. “We’ve been very fortunate people have responded very well since the beginning.”

The event is produced mainly based around the organizer’s love for Phoenix and in the future, they would like to reach even further.

“We see it become something bigger, maybe something that can even be broadcasted so that more people can see it,” Enriquez said.

On behalf of the Stylos Awards team and its organizers, they feel truly grateful for the support the project has received.

“This is a project that belongs to Phoenix, that’s pretty much the overall message. We’ve been doing it for 9 years, but really it couldn’t happen without the help from the community,” she said.

With 8 award categories including the Orgullo Award, Artist of the Year, Project of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year, Stylos recognizes the talent and accomplishments of the people in our community. This year marks the 9th anniversary of the event.
