Sterling banned from NBA for life, fined $2.5M

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling’s racist remarks will have him suspended indefinitely and paying $2.5 million in fines.

In a press conference Tuesday, NBA commissioner Adam Silver apologized for the incident and said his comments have no place in the league.

Silver says Sterling will not be able to attend any practices or games in the NBA.

An investigator reportedly confirmed that the leaked tape of Sterling making the racist comments had not been manipulated, confirming the male voice on the tape was the team owner.

Silver said Tuesday, regardless that the comments were originally made in private, they still reflect his views.

Sterling acknowledged that it was his voice recorded on the tapes, but has not yet made any comments of remorse, according to the press conference.
