Sofia Vergara’s Frozen Embryo Legal Battle Dismissed

Looks like the legal war between Sofia Vergara and ex-fiancé Nick Loeb might be over.

On Friday, a judge in Louisiana dismissed the lawsuit against the Modern Family actress for custody of embryos they conceived together. According to TMZ, the judge ruled the court had no jurisdiction over the suit filed because the embryos were conceived in California, despite Loeb claiming the pair had planned a future in Louisiana.

It was also added that neither parent had ties to the state and that Loeb likely filed there due to Louisiana’s favorable legislation protecting the rights of the unborn children. The judge, who called the embryos “citizens of California,” noted that the case could require a Constitutional evaluation.

The former couple conceived two female embryos through IVF while they were together. In the past, the founder of Crunchy Condiment Company revealed he had named the two pre-embryos “Emma” and “Isabella” and even created trusts for both of them. “I have always strongly believed that life begins at conception and that every embryo is a life on the journey towards birth. I created these two female embryos with the purpose of taking them to term and not destruction, because I have always dreamed of being a father,” the businessman said in a statement in the past.

Vergara is now happily married to True Blood star, Joe Manganiello. The A-list couple tied the knot during a romantic wedding in Palm Beach, Florida, back in November 2015.
