Shakira and America Ferrera are the latest celebrities making their voices heard in response to Donald Trump’s recent comments about Mexican immigrants.
The Colombian singer took to Twitter earlier this week, saying no one should support ignorance.
Meanwhile, America Ferrera took a different approached and decided to pen down a letter thanking Donald Trump. In the heartfelt letter published Thursday on The Huffington Post, the actress and director thanks Trump for starting a movement and getting the Latino movement out the polls to vote.
Among other things she writes,
“You see, what you just did with your straight talk was send more Latino voters to the polls than several registration rallies combined! Thank you for that. Here we are pounding the pavement to get American Latinos to the polls, while your tactic proves most effective. Remarks like yours will serve brilliantly to energize Latino voters and increase turnout on election day against you and any other candidate who runs on a platform of hateful rhetoric.”
