During an interview with Univision’s talk show Al Punto on Wednesday, Cruz took complete ownership of the label by rocking a black t-shirt with the word “NASTY” printed in large white letters.
“When someone is bothered by someone claiming lack of drinking water, lack of medicine for the sick and lack of food for the hungry, that person has problems too deep to be explained in an interview,” Cruz told Jorge Ramos, as per Newsweek’s translation.
“What is really nasty is that anyone would turn their back on the Puerto Rican people,” she also added.
The famous “nasty woman” phase came about during the final presidential debate when Trump called opposing candidate Hilary Clinton, “such as nasty woman.”
Cruz referenced the phrase the former businessman used to attack her of “poor leadership” on social media. ‘The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump,” he wrote on Twitter last week. “Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort.”
Of course, this is not the first time Cruz has used her fashion choices to make a statement. Just last week, the mayor was spotted wearing a t-shirt that read, “HELP US WE ARE DYING” during an appearance on CNN.
