The world is mourning the death of Robin Williams, 63, who was found dead at his home in Tiburon, California on Monday, Aug. 11.

According to the Daily Mail, Williams hadn’t been seen in public for three weeks after being in rehab for ‘severe depression’. His cause of death is believed to be suicide due to asphyxia.

The actor had been battling depression and addiction to drugs and alcohol for years.

President Obama said: “He made us laugh. He made us cry. He gave his immeasurable talent freely and generously to those who needed it most.”

His third wife Susan Schneider wrote on Twitter:

“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be of Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
