Glendale, Arizona will be the Mecca of Football, well, at least for the month of January 2015. The NFL has announced the All-Star game will be played in the same site as Super Bowl XLIX, University of Phoenix Stadium.
The Pro Bowl will be played on Sunday January 25th, while the Super Bowl will follow on Sunday February 1.
The football All-Star game will return to Aloha Stadium in Hawaii for 2016 at a date to be determined later.
The game in Glendale will be the third one, in the history of the Pro Bowl to be played in the same city as the Super Bowl.
The Phoenix area will host its second Super Bowl since 2008; Super Bowl XXX was also played in Tempe in 2006.
“We are very excited about this, this is only the third time that the game has been moved out of Hawaii,” said Michael Bidwill and added “Our fans are very excited, in just a the few hours since the NFL announced it, we have received a lot of calls.”
The other two times the Pro Bowl has been played outside of Hawaii has been in 1967 in Los Angeles and in 2010 in Florida.
The Arizona fans have a great reason to be excited, as the Cardinal’s season ticket holders will have a first shot at tickets.
“I can’t wait for next year, it’s all about football in the valley,” said Roger Pacheco. “I am not a season ticket holder, but somehow I will find a way to purchase tickets for both events,” he added.
In addition the fans will have a chance to participate and visit the NFL Experience, an event that is held throughout the week before Super Bowl Sunday.
