Poll: AZ Latinos favor Obama, Carmona, but are light voters
Latinos in Arizona favor both President Obama and U.S. Senate candidate Richard Carmona by a wide margin, according to a Behavior Research poll on the races.
According to the poll, Mitt Romney barely leads Obama in the traditionally red state. Other polls had Romney further ahead.
The Behavior Research poll said Latinos choose Obama ahead of Romney 77-10 percent — about the same as Democrats, at 77-9 percent. Other minorities like Obama also, but by 49-30 percent. Younger voters in Arizona are on the president’s side also by 54-24 percent, while older voters go the other way at 51-36 percent. Romney is doing better with women, moving up to 42-39 percent favoring Obama.
Carmona leads Republican U.S. Rep. Jeff Flake in the Senate race 44-40 percent, and the Tucson Democrat, who is of Puerto Rican heritage, is favored by Latinos 65-18 percent.
That news for the Democratic candidates is tempered by the historical voting trend, and this year’s indication, that Republicans, older voters, conservatives, Caucasians and liberals are the most likely to actually cast ballots.
So go VOTE!
