phoenix mercury(Phoenix, Ariz) – The Phoenix Mercury and Arizona Public Service (APS) will host their annual “Green Night” on Tuesday, August 4 when the team takes on the Tulsa Shock at US Airways Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

US Airways Center will be powered by renewable energy from APS. The Mercury purchased 48,500 kilowatt-hours of green energy, which is enough to power the entire game. The night will also feature a number of energy saving tips from Mercury players and Scorch throughout the game.

Fans in attendance will have the chance to receive a free EcoSmart® shirt during the game, brought to you by APS. The EcoSmart® shirts are made of five percent polyester created from recycled plastic bottles. An image of the t-shirt is below. The first 1,500 fans will also receive a 23w Energy Star CFL light bulb upon exit.

In addition, APS will honor Lanette Campbell, an advisor with Maricopa County NAACP Youth and College division, for her work in the Phoenix community during halftime.
