The hype of the National Football League Draft has been winding down as the weekend came to end. For six players, who played in the state of Arizona the hype has just begun.

Three players from the University of Arizona and three from Arizona State University were drafted:

Arizona Wildcat

117th Pick (RB) Ka’Deem Carey Chicago Bears

157th Pick (CB) Shaquille Richardson Pittsburgh Steelers

212th Pick (LB) Flowers Cincinnati Bengals

 

Arizona State University

82nd Pick (DT) Will Sutton Chicago Bears

121st Pick (LB) Carl Bradford Green Bay Packers

201st Pick (RB) Marion Grice San Diego Chargers

In 2012, Carey, 2012, was the nation’s leading rusher in yards per game (148.4) and total yards (1,929). He is Arizona’s all-time career rushing leader (4,232 yards).

Richardson played in and started all 13 games in 2013 at cornerback. He totaled 55 tackles, including three for loss, and picked off three passes for 34 return yards.

Marquis Flowers started and played all 13 games in 2013 at will linebacker; he totaled 93 tackles for second on the team while also collecting 11 tackles for a loss of 22 yards. 

Arizona State

Sutton finished with 161 career tackles, including 45.5 for loss, which rank as the eighth most in ASU history, and his 20.5 career sacks are the seventh most in school annals.

Bradford notched 39.5 tackles for loss in the past two seasons, which tied for the fourth most in the nation in that span. Bradford also added 21.5 sacks, 10 pass deflections, six forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and a pair of interceptions.

Grice tallied 39 career touchdowns in just two seasons and 23 games at ASU, which ranks as the fifth most in school history. His 234 points scored is the highest two-season mark in school history as he picked up 3,045 career all-purpose yards. He notched 20 touchdowns in 2013.
