A controversial moment of the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics’ spawned off into a social media frenzy with the hash-tag, #SochiProblems.
Early Friday night’s Opening Ceremony at the Fisht Stadium was when the problem occured, leaving the symbolic fifth ring missing from the Olympic light display.
Five snowflakes were supposed to transform and expand into the rings, when one of the snowflakes did not transform, viewers were left with one dangling snowflake and four rings, throwing off the iconic symbolism of the Olympic Games brand.
Overall the lighting malfunction was a minor flaw in the dramatic show. Viewers will stay tuned to see how the remaining production of the Winter Games goes.
