Of the 86 contestants only one woman is the successor of Olivia Culpo, the former Miss Universe from the United States. There was no short of beauty, glamour and competition but the name to rise above rest is Gabriela Isler of Venezuela.

The 25-year-old star is familiar with being in the public eye. A television sensation in her home country it was apparent to viewers that the winner was not camera shy. In addition to being in media, Isler is an accomplished flamenco dancer and not the first of her country to bring home such a prestigious title.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro took to twitter to congratulate Isler on her win, calling her title a “triumph” for Venezuela. In fact Venezuela has now won three of the last six Miss Universe pageants and has won more major international beauty competitions than any other nation.

Despite a deserved victory from Venezuela there were many other beauties that help top ten positions.  Other top ten contestants were Miss Spain, who received the award as runner-up, Miss Philippines, Miss Great Britain, Miss India, Miss Brazil, Miss USA, Miss Ukraine, Miss Ecuador, and Miss Dominican Republic.
