Mexico Players Missing in Action in Chile’s 7-0 Rout of El Tri

By Francisco Romero. – They were nowhere to be found, I am talking about Javier “El Chicharito” Hernandez, Andres Guardado, Jesus Corona, Hector Herrera, Miguel Layun, Irving Lozano, et al.

El Tri fell against a great Chilean National Team by a score of 7-0, more than 70,000 thousand fans, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California witnessed an embarrassing Mexican team who had no answers.

Chile played a flawless, technically sound and an aggressive game that sent them into the semifinals of Copa America Centenario.

Eduardo Vargas scored 4 goals against Mexico, while Edson Puch scored 2 goals and Alexis Sanchez scored one for Chile.

“Chile deserved it, we deserved the win, maybe at the beginning of the tournament we didn’t play as well, but tonight we demonstrated what we are capable of and we came out ahead in a very big way,” said Chilean player Edson Puch.

“There was a lot of factors that figured into the finals score,” said Mexican player Andres Guardado. “Chile took care of their opportunities and did their job. We have to turn the page and forget about this game and just go on.”

Chile will now face Colombia in one of the semifinal games.

Argentina – Venezuela

The other semifinal game will feature Argentina against the United States Men’s National Team.

Argentina beat Venezuela 4-1 for the right to play the U.S. in Houston, Texas next week.

Gonzalo Higuain scored twice for Argentina while Lionel Messi and Erik Lamela added one a piece for the South Americans.

Salomon Rondon scored the lonely goal for the Vinotinto.
