Over the past few years the fans in Tucson and Phoenix have had the experience of being at a baseball game in Mexico, where the rules of the games are the same, but the unwritten rules of what surrounds the game are much different.

“The Mexican Baseball Fiesta is not only about baseball being played, it’s a party, it’s a unique experience,” said Mike Feder, Mexican Baseball Fiesta’s President.  “When the pitcher is warming up there is music, the mascots are on the field throughout the game.  The best way to describe it is that there is a lot of energy, a lot of dancing, a lot of fun, it is truly a unique experience that baseball fans have to experience.”

The “Fiesta Mexicana” will kick off this year in Phoenix with 2 teams from Mexico’s Pacific Winter League participating (Naranjeros de Hermosillo and Aguilas de Mexicali) and the future stars of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers.

The games will be played at Maryvale Stadium in Phoenix from September 19 – 21.  Hermosillo will play Mexicali in single games on Friday and Saturday; then the two Mexican teams will play the MLB Future Stars teams in a doubleheader on Sunday.

The weekend will be full of promotional activities that will include giveaways, free kids clinic on Saturday at the stadium, music and authentic Mexican cuisine.

In addition to Phoenix the 2014 Mexican Baseball Fiesta will feature games in Magdalena, Sonora; Nogales, Sonora; Agua Prieta, Sonora; Cananea, Sonora; Tucson, AZ and El Paso, TX.

The Mexican Winter Baseball teams that will participate include: Naranjeros de Hermosillo, Tomateros de Culiacan, Yaquis de Ciudad Obregon and Mayos de Navojoa.
