Linda Larkin had no idea an audition in the 90s would lead her to be part of Disney history.
From that moment on, she would bring life to Princess Jasmine, the daring, delightful and determined daughter of Sultan in the movie “Aladdin.”
“I had no idea [this movie] was going to be such a huge part of Disney history,” she said, “I feel this sense of honor to be a part of it, and fortunate to be part of the Disney legacy in that way.”
One word she uses to describe Jasmine is “magical,” something she said was the reason she felt immediately connected to her character. From the first moment, she knew “it was meant to be.”
“I also related to Jasmine’s fascination with new things and felt that we were very much alike in that aspect,” she said. Larkin has now been part of the Disney family since her childhood and describes it as an “honor.”
“To actually be part of Disney history, that’s a dream that I didn’t even dare to have,” she said. “I didn’t even believe I could be that in my life.”
Disney is now in full celebration as it gets ready to release “Aladdin” in its Diamond Edition on Blu-Ray and DVD on October 13.
Among other things, Disney’s Diamond Edition contains “Aladdin” on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD.
The story follows the classic tale of “Aladdin,” the streetwise boy who finds a genie. With the genie’s three wishes, Aladdin embarks on a magical journey and uncovers an evil plot to overthrow the local sultan.
“[This story] shows such a magical world,” Larkin said, “there’s no limit to where characters can travel or what they can see. There were no limits to where you can take them and what you can show them.”
The story features memorable characters including the late Robin Williams as the energetic Genie, along with Academy Award-winning music.
“Aladdin” will be available in Disney’s Diamond Edition starting October 13th.
