Laurie Hernandez Meets the ‘Stuck in the Middle’ Diaz Family

Laurie Hernandez is making her way to Disney Channel!

The 17-year-old Puerto Rican Olympic gold-medalist will join Jenna Ortega and Kayla Maisonet, and the rest of the clan, on tonight’s episode of Stuck in the Middle. In “Stuck in a Gold Medal Performance,” Georgie (played by Kayla Maisonet) is learning to really embrace her Latinx heritage. She meets Hernandez, who guest stars as herself, and invites the gymnast over for a family meal. After being on the road, Laurie couldn’t be more excited to join the Diaz’s for a home-cooked meal, but the dinner doesn’t go exactly as planned.

“I was so excited to meet and work with Laurie,” Maisonet told Just Jared Jr. “She was a pleasure to have on and off set, and we shared so many laughs. When the episode was over we all missed her.. it wasn’t the same!”

Hernandez also spoke about her time working with Maisonet. “I think we definitely bonded over our hair, because we both have very curly hair,” she told Teen Vogue. “I got to go to the RDMAs a few weeks ago and we saw each other. It was really sweet being able to have that little reunion.”
