Judge Tells Trump “No” On Ending DACA

Jenifer Calle of Latina.com reports that a Federal Judge has told the Trump Administration that it cannot end DACA while there is pending litigation –

“Late Tuesday afternoon a federal judge in California ruled to temporarily block the Trump administration’s efforts to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Judge William Alsup‘s decision will protect U.S. children from detention and deportation by keeping the 2012 DACA program. The San Francisco judge said the administration must resume receiving DACA renewal applications while the legal battle is pending. However, the ruling is limited because the administration does not need to process applications for those who have never before received DACA protections, leaving young undocumented immigrants in jeopardy.

The Trump Administration has responded that the Obama-era is unlawful and plan to defend their position in further litigation.

Trump tweeted this morning claiming that the court’s decision was “unfair.”

Many people also took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the temporary block.

Yesterday Trump held a bipartisan meeting pushing for a “Bill of Love” but negotiations are still undergoing.”
